Inspiration is not always a simple ah-Ha moment. Sometimes it's a bumpy, winding path. I had an idea for a lidded jar with a deeply incised surface that has been burned, then aggressively brushed and colored with graphite powder and lacquer leaving a very damaged and dark surface. I liked the result but had yet to address the top or a lid. The music was playing as it often is. On comes "Brothers in Arms" the title track of Dire Straits 1985 album best known for the monster hit "Money for Nothing". I hadn't heard this cut in awhile and it caught my ear. I listened a bit more intently and by the time the song finished I knew that I needed a second piece, what I needed for color, lids and details...and I had a title. The big one measures 5-3/4" x 3-1/2", his smaller comrade 4-1/2" x 3" Thank you for looking!
