"The Form of Function"

Tree of Heaven, Black Walnut, Steel (the base). Turned, Carved, Textured, Colored

I'm intrigued and inspired by some very mechanical bits such as we saw on an abandoned railroad bridge crossing the Columbia River at Beverly WA. Now part of a state long pedestrian path the construction of the bridge can be examined as carefully as one chooses at the pace of self-propulsion. Girders, beams, giant rivets, nuts, bolts and these huge turnbuckles attached to long steel rods several inches in diameter whose only purpose is to adjust and keep the triangles of metal that form the trusses equilateral. They are wonderful, the size and complexion demanded they be photographed and I obliged. Then they demanded replication in my favorite artful medium... Thank you for looking! *****$1,350.00*****
